Supporting African startups to find the talent and skills they need to grow

Solution

An analysis of the jobs and skills most in demand by startups in Africa + a training portfolio of the best organizations and digital schools training to these skills

Talent 4 Startups is developed by Digital Africa, in partnership with Make-IT in Africa, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The program is a pilot deploying training scholarships for tech and digital jobs. It aims to meet the skills’ needs expressed by the continent’s startups by training young people, who will then be matched with startups seeking local talent. For its initial deployment, Talent 4 Startups plans to award 250 scholarships. This number is expected to increase in the future.

To understand the needs of startups on the continent, Digital Africa partnered with Edtech Connections to build a dynamic repository of jobs and skills that highlights, through qualitative and quantitative studies, the jobs and skills most in demand by startups in Africa.
Then, Edtech Connections identified the best training providers and digital schools on the continent to train to these skills, in order for Digital Africa to build strong partnership with them.

Talent 4 Startups is funding the training costs of young talents from the continent, and supporting them to find a job by connecting them to the network startups.
